31-0ctober-2017

The National Elections Commission, NEC is pleased to announce to the Public that the Recount of the Votes in Electoral District #8 in Nimba County from the October 10th Presidential and Representative Elections will take place on tomorrow, Wednesday, November 1st 2017.

The Recount of Votes on tomorrow, Wednesday, November 1st 2017 in Nimba County District #8 will be held at the Magisterial Office of the National Elections Commission located within the Agriculture Compound in Saclepea, at 10:00AM.

According to the Liberian Election Management Body, NEC, the recount is due to the fact that the difference in the votes obtained by the Candidate with the highest number of votes and his closest contender was less than fifty.

The Commission said this decision is in keeping with its Elections Regulations, backed by the Supreme Court’s ruling in the case of Kuku Dorbor versus the National Elections Commission, in which the Supreme Court said, whenever the difference of votes between the candidates with the most votes is fifty or less, the NEC shall conduct an automatic recount.

The NEC is inviting all parties concerned with the recount to in district #8 to fully participate and witness the recount process.
