The National Elections Commission is seeking applications for the position of Political Affairs Assistant. Successful applicant will be assigned at NEC Headquarters, Political Affairs Office.

Applicant must be able to work with others as team player, as well as being able to work alone and under strenuous condition. With courtesy and professionalism. Must be willing to travel across the country when required.

Terms of Reference

Under the supervision of the Director of Political Affairs, the Political Affairs Assistant shall perform the following duties:

• Assist the Director in executing the duties of his/her office by carrying on selective assignments aimed at reaching to political parties;

• Participate in the receipt and review of all application submitted by organizing committee of proposed parties and aspirant independent candidates requesting permission for the registration of political parties and candidates for onward submission to the Commission;

• Help to ensure that all  records of political parties and aspirant candidates are properly maintained;

• Participate in periodic inspection of Headquarters of political parties consistent with standards set by the commission.

• Help to monitor political parties and aspirants programs and activities to ensure adherence to guidelines of the Commission;

• Assist in preparation of all meetings between the commission and political parties and aspirant candidates;

• Perform any other task as may be deemed necessary by the Commission through the Director of Political Affairs.

Qualification and Experience

• Must have relevant degree or Diploma in Political Science;

• Minimum three (3) years of working experience in the field;

• Ability to work harmoniously with people of different cultural backgrounds;

• Excellent critical thinking and problem solving;

• Ability to work extra time after normal working hours;

• Ability to work well under pressure and flexibility and willingness to live and work in hazardous condition involving physical hardship and little comfort;

• Availability outside of working hours to resolve emergency issues promptly.
