NEC Chairman Korkoya presents certificate of Election to Mrs. Lawrence

The National Elections Commission (NEC) has declared Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence of the Liberty Party winner of the May 7 Senatorial By-Election conducted in Grand Bassa County.

Announcing the results of the By-Election at a well attended program on Thursday, the Chairman of the Commission, Jerome George Korkoya, declared that results from all 336 polling centers in the County show that Candidate Lawrence acquired a total of 11,000 (41.0%) votes.

Cllr. Korkoya said Independent Candidate Daniel L. Chea acquired 9,102 (34.0%) votes, while the ruling Unity Party’s Jonathan L Kaipay acquired 5,899 votes.

He said Candidate T. Wah Bedell of the former ruling National Patriotic Party acquired a total vote of 801 (3%).

According to the results, the total valid vote cast was 26,802 while invalid votes were 1,067. The total vote cast is recorded at 27,869 votes.

He said Voter turnout for the By Election is 22.4%. 

Chairman Korkoya declared Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence of the Liberty Party, Winner of the May 7, 2013 Election.

“On behalf of the members of the Board of Commissioners and staff of the National Elections Commission, I congratulate Candidate Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence of the Liberty Party on the occasion of her victory in the Grand Bassa County Senatorial By-Election,” Chairman Korkoya.

The Commission presented a Certificate of Election to Mrs. Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence at the ceremony.
