 11-MEMBER NEC DELEGATION LEAVES FOR RWANDA September 10th, 2013

An 11-member delegation from the National Elections Commission (NEC) has left the country for a three-week Study Tour and Election Observation Mission to Kigali, the Rwandan Capital. The delegation left the country over the weekend. 

While in Kigali, the NEC delegation will assess the elements of the electoral processes of that East African Country and adopt best practices that could improve the conduct of elections.

The delegation will also observe the September 16 Parliamentary Elections of Rwandan.


The Study tour to Rwanda is part of the NEC’s ongoing capacity building initiatives of the Commission in line with the six-year Strategic Plan of the National Elections Commission.


The delegation is headed by the Co-Chairman of the NEC, Cllr. Sarah Jegede-Toe and comprises Commissioners Davidetta Browne-Lansanah, Asumana Kromah and the Executive Director Designate of the Commission, Lamin Lighe.

 

Other Members of the Delegation include the Directors of Training, Civic/Voter Education, Field Operations, The Elections Magistrates of River Gee and Nimba Counties, a Communications Officer and the Assistant Elections Magistrate of Lower Bong County.


The Electoral Assistance Division of the United Nations Development Program is funding the NEC delegation to Rwanda.
