 NEC Releases Provisional Results of Grand Bassa County Senatorial By-Election May 8th, 2013

The National Elections Commission (NEC) has released provisional results of the May 7 Senatorial By-Election of Grand Bassa County.

The results were released Wednesday evening at a news conference held by the Chairman of the Commission, Cllr. Jerome George Korkoya, at the Fair Ground Unification Pavilion in Buchanan City.

The provisional results were reported from 183 polling places or 54.46% of the total 336 polling places in the county.

According to the Provisional Result, Daniel Lymus Chea, an Independent, obtained 7,566 (44.2%) votes, while Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence of the Liberty Party obtained 6,638 (38.8%) votes.

T. Wah Bedell of the National Patriotic Party obtained 605 (3.5%) votes while Jonathan Kaipay of the Unity Party got 2,303 (13.5%) votes.

At the press conference, Chairman Korkoya commended the Government of Liberia, all poll workers, observer groups, the media, The Liberia National Police and partners of the Commission for their supportive role which resulted to the successful conduct of the By-Election.
